Anyway, the main suspect is always the primitive world view of the society back then. Like when the mutilation of corpse is deemed as demonic practice during the early civilization of man, and yet Leonardo Da Vinci risked his life to study the human anatomy in detail. If he was caught back then, he would be burnt on a stick. It is the primitive world view where things that are not understand are feared and considered act of demons. yes, when we do not understand, we would refer to one thing, God. And our fear for God is so great, we tend to create submissive fanatics. Though i cannot say the same for Chairman Mao. He didn't believe in God. He believed in China.
