A Run for Charity

Cancer, is a terrible thing. 90% of Malaysians do not know much about cancer. They just know it to be a disease. Tada! End. Now, that’s not very nice is it? In Malaysia, the National Cancer Society functions to educate people about the deadly disease. Also, they are dedicated to “preventing cancer, saving lives from cancer and improving the quality of life of those living with cancer through patient care and education.”

However, my sister and her friends are running a Charity Run to raise funds to the National Cancer Society of Malaysia, which is sadly lacking funds. And for charity’s sake, I do hope my readers will go and join the fun.

Here are some quick n’ dirty details:

Where : Taman Lembah Kiara, Taman Tun Dr. IsmailWhen : 7 a.m., 17th December 2006

Registration Fee* : RM 10 for those below 21 years old, RM 15 for those above 21.

Registration begins 16th December 2006, from 12 noon to 6p.m.. Also on the 17th December 2006, before 6.45 a.m..

The first 200 registered participants will receive door gifts, sponsored by Kellogs.

*All Entry fees collected goes to the National Cancer Society, as with all the donations.

So what will be going on there? Well, for starters, besides a race, there is also a bazaar (comes with the race), with tons of stalls, so do remember to bring your wallets!

If you don’t feel like running (like me, for example), you can opt to donate to the National Cancer Society, by cheque or by cash.

If you wish to donate by cheque, please do write a cheque addressed to “National Cancer Society of Malaysia”.
If you wish to donate by cash, then do be there on Sunday!

A personal note: I know many other bloggers read my blog. Do, please do, come for the run. They say, charity begins in the home, but here, charity begins with a run! Do this for cancer research, because you do not know when you or your loved ones might have cancer.
