Miscellaneous Stupidity

Posted in: Rants n' Rave

Right… following on the Miscellaneous theme… In 2004, if you had read or followed my old blog, I posted a rant post about how dumb some college students can be. It involved a student bragging to another student that 4 Megabytes worth of data is larger than what a DVD-R can contain - he obviously thought Megabytes were of larger units than Gigabytes. That was 3 years ago. So, today, I shall post on stupidity in similar vein.

300

Yes, yes, 300 is a movie now. I have yet to watch it. But it is apparently very very popular. And there I was, waiting for the bus at the bus stop. There was this group of girls from college (bimbotic ones too, by the look of it), and they were loudly discussing the movie 300, and the Battle of Thermopylae as well. Some parts of their conversation (which was a mix of at least 3 languages)

Bimbo 1: I haven’t watched the movie. What’s it about?
Bimbo 2: Oh you should watch. It’s about 300 men fight 10 million mutants. The men are hot.

At this point, let us pause. 10 million????!!! Even the historical version had a maximum of 1.7 million Persian land troops. How did the number inflate to 10 million? And MUTANTS?????!!!! I was flabbergasted when I heard the words mutants. Yes, I’ve watched the trailer, and there was an odd cyclops/ogre-like character in the trailer, and the Persians are portrayed as oddballs, and deformed… But mutants vs 300 soldiers? WTF???! Mutants????!!!! Someone has been watching too many Hollywood movies.

Okay, so I shook my head, and continued to read my newspaper, while their voices filtered through my ears. There was a smarter girl amongst them, and she was more well-read than her friends, so she mentioned that the movie was based on a real event known as the Battle of Thermopylae. Then the others swooned and asked if the Spartans were really half naked when they fight. Right.

Then their conversation somehow took a more intelligent turn, and they started discussing Greek history. That’s when I started banging my head against the stone seat (figuratively, of course). It started when the smarter girl mentioned that real Spartans left the weak children to the mountain lions, and the other bimbos thought it was true thusly throughout ancient Greece. They proceeded to criticize the Greeks for being so fascist (no, they didn’t use this word, but their description sounded like they were describing a dictatorial fascist country).

Hey… what about Athens? Hello? Democracy started in Ancient Greece? Duh. Public schooling was a product of Sparta. Hello?

Of course, the conversation then degenerated to saying how cool Brad Pitt was as Achilles, and what a pity he died by an arrow to the heel… blablabla. I had by then lost interest in their bimbotic conversation. It gave me the willies.

Heh, the real amount of Spartans that took part in the battle was close to 1000 I believe. It’s funny how people are so gullible. It’s a movie for cryin’ out loud! If the movie had actual facts, it would have been called a documentary.

Sometimes I feel like I’ve lost hope in humanity when bimbos are abound.

Chewxy: Spartan is the APC member of the CVR(T) family. It has capacity for 5 men in addition to 2 crew (commander and driver). Externally it is almost indistinguishable from the FV102 Striker. Rather than a general personnel carrier for infantry, the Spartan is retained for moving specialist teams (eg anti-aircraft missile teams, Royal Engineer technicians) across the battlefield.

The Persians would later retaliate those with enough Shahab-3 MRBM to blanket the sun.

    Hehe…being judgemental, eh? ;)

Anyway I’m reading The Iliad now..but this translation is crap, compared to the one I read for The Odyssey. Gosh, don’t you just love vengeful Greek gods?

Hangmen: Tanks for the info. Er… or APC… or whatever.

Princess: A bimbo like you is fun to hang round with… coz I get to make fun of you every now and then. If everyone were to be smart like PS, then there goes the fun in the world. But I like smart girls too :D

Ayjk: Yes. I just love the extremely vengeful Greek gods. Full of drama. I am jealous of you, and thus I shall turn your spouse into a cow! Actually, most gods (of every religion) are vengeful. Name me one who is not vengeful.

Really? Even the monotheistic religion Gods?

    Even more so.

Sodom and Gomorrah, pillars of salt, denial of Moses into the Kingdom of Heaven, venegence in the name of Punishment.

Tower of Babel, the removal of Adam and Eve from Paradise - jealousy in the name of Justice

Sacrifice of Abraham’s son - pride in form of a test of faith.

Same goes with Job, Ezekiel and the like - just something heinous with a glorified tagged name.

Conclusion: gods are vengeful (and mostly jealous) creatures. You humans better not antagonize them. Should you ever cross paths, remember this: In the beginning, there was the Word. And the Word was - Hey You!

Hmm..I think that you’re confusing punitive with vengeful…

You guys have got to stop acting like walking, talking encyclopaedias… Wait a minute. I’m a bimbo. I am not supposed to spell right.

The Princess on March 15th, 2007 at 11:46 pm

Ayjk: Hardly. Jehovah wanted revenge, at least on Adam and Eve. Being punitive is just a cover to extend his/her long enduring revenge on you human beans. And of course, being the kind, compassionate god he/she is, all these “punishments” has a higher purpose - test of faith, blabla, which mostly amount to bs.

Princess: The world started crumbling already, because you achieved a feat no other Bimbo Human (Homo Bimboticus) ever managed - to type in proper full English. And it is thusly prophesied in Agnes Nutter’s prophecies, which includes “Do notte buye Betamacks”. So there.

I wonder… if they were guys, would they have discussed the fact that Spartan 155mm artillery pwned the Persian 105mm literally?

Or the fact Leonidas single-handedly handed the Persians their ass using his 1337 h4x?
