See the cameo in the picture? No?
That is a picture of Hashie with a book on his chest. It’s the same book as this:

And it was used in the filming of Abel’s second movie, Life is an Illusion. I claimed to have helped him much, but this is what I really did:
- I sat in front of my PC watching History of the World Part I, while he slaved away behind me, doing all the work
- I intrude on his film set, walking in and out of shots, and making ghostly woo-woo noises.
- I gave Abel false hope that his PC (and/or mine) can edit HD videos. Truth is, none of our computers are equipped for HD works, so he wasted a week. And he had to reshoot the whole thing in a normal SD camera
And because of that, we’ve decided to team up for our next project, and I’ve decided to let him do all the hard work while I sit behind my PC blogging this blog. Nyahahahaha.

Some other trivia about the short:
- The original book that was used was Phillip Pullman’s the Golden Compass. But Freakonomics was later used
- Thanks to the fall scene in the movie, my Freakonomics, my carefully guarded treasure of a book, is mud-coated. Of all places to drop the book in!!!!
- The movie was shot twice. Once in HD, another in normal standard definition.
- HD lags so badly it was impossible to edit.
- But HD is so preeetty
- Hashie DID fall for real. He slipped on the slippery tiles and even chipped his tooth.
- Abel cameo-ed as the park jogger
- I cameo-ed as the pop-up gardener, but we decided that scene was too bizzare, so it was cut out - so I was there for fun
- I injured my back cameo-ing the park jogger… just by jogging.
- Look at the last scene - Hashie is holding 100-Plus bottles in his right hand. Throughout the whole movie there was no 100-plus bottles to be seen
- Abel is an able cinematographer (geddit? Abel is able!! geddit? geddit?)
- When Hashie was talking to his “boss” on the phone, it was all ad lib. Which gives rise to the question of Hashie’s sanity.
- The voice-over is Abel’s voice, manipulated by the extremely powerful Audacity.
- The version uploaded by Abel on YouTube, is version 11 (not including the failed HD versions).
- For more trivia (actually, I have more) - visit Abel’s entry on his blog!
Now your task: Guess the filming location.
Cool?

Your backyard?
Your backyard is nice!
Aoshi, Neo: Nope… not my backyard… but also my backyard in a general sense. But keep guessing… I mean.. it’s so easy to guess right
One-U, The Mall and most of the time DU park.
Hey you know what? My brother, did a similiar project on starwars with lightsaber effects and explosion with Matrix style movement. His movie FTW! and he’s younger than you.
AHAHAHAHAHAAH - the voices sound so bloody funny.
Unknown Warrior: OneUtama is correct, the Mall is wrong, DU Park is wrong.
cfgt: Yep.. they sound like ducks right, nothing like what they sound in real life
Aiyo, it’s OneUtama and the park near OneUtama lah. The Forever21 store gave it away (you know, since The Bimbotics are supposed to like shopping and all).
Yes, the voices sound rather strange. I thought the title gave the entire ending away, so it kind of lacked any elements of surprise you might have hoped for.
OneUtama and Central Park is correct!! Ding ding!
You guys had to guess?! wtf.
Some people do not live with OneUtama in their backyards
I miss Singapore. I think i’ll just take leave and go there.
Almost everywhere has that one-utama/ikea ikano feel over there. lol
In the early scene, he was chasing a RapidKL bus. And then after the camera shifts back to view HS, the bus is a bright yellow.
Was there supposed to be a second bus behind the first RapidKL bus?
A note of advice to Yuhhui - when a stranger introduces himself to you in the park…RUN!
But on the whole..it’s a good start
keen eye ayjk!
yeah that is a slight error in continuity i hoped not many would have noticed (in fact i didnt notice too) i think the yellow bus was following closely behind the rapid kl one . thanks
No probs! Wishing you every success in completing this movie.
ayjk: I adviced her that myself too :D. As for the continuity error… that’s thanks to Maybank’s corporate sponsorship to RapidKL.
Everytime I hear Maybank I think of Hacks sweets.
I wonder if Amirsham’s people found it yet.
