theSun is a good newspaper with some salient points and opinions peppered here and there within. There are some good writers whose columns I consistently read. People like Jacqueline Ann Surin, and Tan Siok Choo. theSun is also a free newspaper that is freely distributed at news stands, coffee shops and other drop points.
So, I was in a coffee shop yesterday, planning to have breakfast before I go befuddle myself with Law 101 (Law has its own set of perverse logic - one which I cannot quite follow). I picked up a copy of theSun, which was stacked in a pile by the counter, found a table, and put my bag and newspaper down on the table.
Then I went to get some food (it was a self serve place). I paid and returned to my seat. Lo and behold! The newspaper is gone. My bag was still there, but the newspaper was taken.
Why would people steal FREE newspaper? I mean, there is a pile stacked by the counter. Would it kill to walk a few extra steps to get it from the counter? (well, I answered the question why people would steal free newspaper - for convenience’s sake)
Anyways, disgruntled, I went to get a second copy of the newspaper for myself and ate breakfast.
Then last night, after a failed attempt to watch TNMT (stupid cinema listings listed the times wrongly on their site), I went to McDonald’s and had a pretty intellectual talk with Ke Pang and Abel - well, mostly about sociopaths/psychopaths and their cognitive processes (Ke Pang is a psych grad).
Anyways, I saw a copy of theEdge sitting beside Ronald McDonald. theEdge is a 5-dollar weekly magazine (though usually I get them for free). No one claimed theEdge beside Ronald McDonald for about 20 mins. I took it. ![]()
Cool?

theSun is distributed free in my college but it’s amazing that the college is not inudated with theSun newspapers. And they also distribute the Star’s R.A.G.E free too.
This is something interesting. The only way you can earn back through stealing free papers are to recycle it back.
The Edge is good. The Sun is good.
Interesting… nobody has anything to say about my thieving habits?
p/s: I had my newspaper stolen again this morning. I’ll see if there is another copy of theEdge to take
