Not Exactly A Good Day

Posted in: Rants n' Rave

Yesterday wasn’t exactly a good day. Remember I always have a problem with parking tickets and ATMs? Well, it’s compounded yesterday. Let’s review:

First thing in the morning, I went to the doctor’s in the morning. Upon exiting the clinic, I discovered that I had a piece of paper stuck on the windshield - a parking ticket. RM100 fine, for not parking on a marked lot.

Then, I was scheduled to go to IDP to register for my IELTS exam with Abel.

I picked Abel up, and stopped by the bank. When I put in the ATM Card, a “Device Failure” message popped up, and the ATM swallowed my card. There were a few people before me on that machine, and it worked just fine for them. After the ATM swallowed my card, the machine was rendered useless, and the people behind me gave me venomous stares (because after me, no one else could use the machine)

So I went to the teller in the bank, to get a replacement card. The teller was new employee, and had to refer to her supervisor as to where to obtain the form. Her supervisor had to guide her through the entire card replacement process. It took quite a while before I managed to obtain a new card.

But that wasn’t all. I got charged 12 bucks for getting a new card - a card which was lost due to no fault of mine (stupid damn machine). Here’s a tip: CIMB’s service charges are exorbitantly high. I think Maybank charges only RM8 for a card replacement - free if it’s a problem with the machine.

After that, Abel and I went down town to KL to IDP. Upon reaching Menara Selangor Dredging (the building where IDP is), we found the IDP office to be closed. Right. I endured the stupid traffic jams (almost 1 hour) for absolutely no reason.

Then my phone ran out of juice (forgot to charge it for a few days already). Someone A few people had important calls to get to me by then.

Feeling a little down, I went to catch Shooter. Abel mentioned something about a cherry on top of my day was to have my car stolen. That didn’t happen, thankfully. Shooter was a good movie (and especially for those government conspiracy buffs). Ah, then I went home.

As it was, there was a lightning storm when I was watching the movie. The lightning storm knocked out my telephone lines - no internet! Can’t check delete my mails, can’t blog, can’t do anything much. So I slept.

Today, however was a totally fine day. I re-did all most the things above (the movie was Sunshine, which was an awesome scifi flick), and everything went smoooothly (CIMB still charges exorbitantly for foreign bank draft service charges), and my internet’s restored. Yay!

CIMB wanted to charge me 12 bucks to change my old BCB card to a new red one; this is because of the stupid system (I had a teenage acc last time, the passbook upgraded automatically to an adult acc BUT the ATM card did NOT autoupdate and stuck with a limit of 200 bucks for withdrawal/transfer) does not allow them to change the limit on the fly.

The branch I went to (PBD/main block) couldn’t issue a new ATM card (but can deactivate the old one), would’ve given me a free card, the Klang (my home branch) wanted to charge me, so i said STFU and close the f*king account right away.

Good riddance to that satanic coloured bank. Will be doing business with good ol’ standard chartered.

That’s it XD. I’ve been using the BCB card for 1 year + already (I’ve changed 4 ATM Cards in 3 years)… now I have the new red CIMB card. And it’s bloody 12 bucks. As for the CIMB/BCB at PBD/mainblock, their service is extremely horrible. I once waited about an hour for them to complete a bank draft (for my UCAS and Cambridge application). And I paid in cash too. WTF
Standard Chartered bank is… hard to find, don’t you think? You’d have to use MEPS most of the time and lose a dollar everytime

Actually, shooter is pretty accurate as far as how sniping goes. A tad bit unrealistic when he decides to take on a chopper, but other than that it has none of the hollywood bullshit tagged onto sniping. Very good movie if you are a sniping fan.
