I’ve been having lots of lunches and dinners lately. I mean, lunch is really over-rated (since if you wake up at 7 and have breakfast by 8, you won’t feel hungry till about 6 p.m.).
Anyways, I don’t dine alone. Most of these meals, I have with friends- most often these days would be with either Abel or Edmund. And I’ve noticed somethings about dining. There is always this omnipresent other person.
For example, if I am dining with say, Edmund in a mamak stall, normally we would pay for our own share of the meal. But I discover through my expense logs, that I’ve been paying for an extra person. That means it would seem that I am paying for 2 people even when I am only paying for myself. Being mindful, I sat and watched what really happened.
And I did get a result. The day before yesterday, I had brunch with Abel in some back alley in the midst of KL City. There was this chee cheong fun stall that was recommended by Jason Yeoh (from Astro AEC’s Taste with Jason) in Madras Lane (somewhere near/off Petaling Street). It was good food indeed, and Jason knows his good food. And so I watched and waited to see if I had been paying for another person all along.
Then it hit me. The reason why I’ve been paying for an extra person’s portion of food was because I was the other person. I consumed double servings of food and drinks.
Okay, okay. That was just an exercise in mindfulness and being dramatic. ![]()
Hmm. But eating double portions is not too healthy for my body or my wallet. Gotta cut down.
A note about Jason Yeoh: I’m not too happy with that guy. He’s revealed some of my best kept good food places in Penang, and as a result of his TV show, the prices have almost doubled!!!
Cool?

In other news…. my cat Tigara is back from the hospital. I’m so happy
Philosophical…anyway what happened to Tigara?
Heh. Just being mindful. Tigara had gastritis, and needed to be admitted to hospital for IV drips. Getting the drips into her was hell - she was so fierce that the doctors nearly gave up (they poked a few times, and she bit the IV thingy to take it out). And all this was done after she refused to eat for 2 days, and is extremely weak
Should’ve sedated her… not that i want to be unkind.
Nah. To sedate her, they need to inject her with sedatives. That would mean more struggle.
What about gas? Seal the room where she is, in a cage preferably and let the gas loose!
Dude…i’m not trying to be mean, ok?
Why not a box with a radioactive isotope that has a 50% chance of decaying, activating the gas?
The only thing is that you cannot open the box to determine if the cat is sleeping already or not.
And also, that would mean I have to change me surname to Shroedinger.
