GG means Good Game - usually uttered when the game is ended spectacularly. And that was probably the most heard phrase today. Abel, Hashie and I were having Starcraft matches the whole day long. And there were great games. Some are better described, some are better with screenshots. We were not very good players, but nevertheless, we did have some good times. Here is a blow-by-blow review of what games we played.
Game 1: Hashie - Zerg, Abel - Terran, Me - Protoss.
Having played previously with Hashie and Abel, I sorta know their playing style. Abel is a defensive Terran player, while Hashie is always inspired by Zerg rushes. What I did was I sent my 7th probe to scout, and I chanced on Hashie’s base first. Before he can pre-emptively strike, I built a pylon just somewhere outside his base. And in my own base, I already had a Forge, so I had a Photon Cannon quickly built outside Hashie’s base. I didn’t care so much about Abel, because he wouldn’t attack until he is totally confident of his forces. And one Photon Cannon expanded into 2, and into a a whole load of Photon Cannons.
In effect, it was a Photon Cannon rush on the fastest species (and player) on the map. I locked Hashie in his own tiny little corner while I dealt with Abel. Refusing to be destroyed, Hashie surrendered and left the game. Then I focused on destroying Abel’s base… also with Photon Cannon rushes. He put up a good fight with Siege Tanks, but they were no match for Zealots and Dark Templars. By the time his Science Vessel and Comsat Station caught up with me, I was long gone. Abel called it honorless and sneaky. Heh. Who cares. This is the result:

The reason why it took so long to finish was because Abel was unwilling to surrender as quickly as Hashie. I had his base surrounded by photon cannons, and I didn’t want to send in my Carriers to destroy him. So I left his SCVs to continue mining.
After lunch though, Hashie admitted that he messed up his build order because he was in two minds whether to go with a Zergling Rush or to hold back longer.
Game 2: Hashie - Zerg, my sister - Protoss
I didn’t play in Game 2, because I was busy playing Worms World Party with Abel (who totally pwnt me. Heh… if only I had a Concrete Donkey). My sister was a much worse player than the rest of us, but she held out on her own surprisingly well in this game (she lost though). The game was such a drag that all the minerals and gases were depleted, and all the forces were depleted. It was so bad that this had to happen:

No, you’re not seeing things wrong. It’s the drones attacking a Nexus. Yep. It went down to that point, where there was no more minerals to mine and make more units. And neither party was in the mood to surrender. It ended with my sister losing though.
There were few other games after, but those were short games, and not worth noting - though I did show them a map I made thanks to a conversation with Hashie 2 weeks ago (I’ve been play-testing that map too the past 2 weeks). Then came lunch and went. After lunch, both Abel and Hashie, tired of being pwnt by me bored with playing free-for-all skirmishes, suggested we team up against the computer opponent.
Game 3: Abel and Hashie - Terran, Me - Protoss. Computer 1 and Computer 2 - Zerg
This game was a complete and total disaster. We got pwnt badly by the computer. So we decided on a new style of play - everyone plays Terran.
Game 4: Abel, Hashie and I - Terran. Computer 1 and Computer 2 - Zerg
This time we co-operated, and formulated strategies. Being bunched together (to the point of mining the same mineral patch), we determined that Abel will focus solely on opening defence, while Hashie focus on special units (ghosts, science vessels, etc) and I provided siege power. The opening defence was to fill as many bunkers as possible with marines, while I provided medic support and Hashie provides firebat support. To survive the first few rushes, I had Siege Tanks out A.S.A.P… but after the Hydralisks and Zerglings broke through the bunker barrier, I lost about 10 Siege Tanks before backup marines came from the Abel main base. But after that, every single wave is all defendable. Reason? Abel had built about 100 marines and they were all crowded up in a place.
Very quickly, the game ended. Hashie’s Wraith army and Abel’s marines were impressive. Mine was just auxiliary forces, so not as impressive -

Game 4: Abel, Hashie and I - Terran, Computer 1, 2 and 3 - Zerg.
The game was rather similar to Game 3. Except that this time round, Hashie was charged with providing opening defence, and Abel was charged with providing special units. Me? Still the same - auxiliary power. So… instead of showing you readers the end scores, here’s a after-game group photo:

Total Marine count in this screen - 105. Total number of marines built - 208
And another after-game group photo:

Hmm.. GG indeed.
Cool?

Zerg and Marine rushes: really handy and devastating if you’re playing it on a small map.
lol Suzumiya Haruhi will be airing on NTV7 this… Wednesday… perhaps.
Hey, my match with ur sister ended in a draw, although she did leave the game. LOL. That’s gotta be one of the more memorable games i’ve ever had, considering that i’ve had a grand total of ONE queen, ONE mutalisk, TWo scourge and a heckuvalot of Overlords and Drones to defend my base.

Sigh…wish i knew where my Brood War CD was hiding.
On another unrelated news, Fate Stay Night will be aired in Animax on June 25th.
