Thought Cloud

Posted in: Me Stuff

A thought cloud is a good way to organize data, especially the ones in your head. This is my thought cloud:

New Episode of Vodcast Startup Stockmarket Find Job Immi.gov.au Her Religiousity and Moral Hazards Culture and Economic Thought Terrorism and Religion Unread and Unreplied Email Cleaning My Room East-West Divide Laundry Make New Movies Shortest, Fastest Route to Uni

Basically what I did was I sat and observed my own thoughts for 10 minutes. Each time I observe a new thought in my head, I write it down. And because my thoughts are recursive, I also tally my thoughts. For example, I think a lot about making my new vodcast (9 times in 10 minutes), while I think less of my emails. I then port the thoughts and my tally into Excel and construct a weighted function for the purpose of sizing the fonts ala tag-cloud style.

The function is weighted so the font size never exceeds 30 and never below 7. I wanted to never make it go below 9, but the visual style won’t be striking. Now, who says math isn’t art. Tell me what you think.
As for an explanation of my thought cloud, you’ll see most of it in the coming weeks on my blog. Except the ones on cleaning my room and my laundry, but here’s a brief rundown on what you’ll see soon on my blog:

  • New Episode of Vodcast
That’s obvious. A new episode for my v-log. If you missed it, here’s Episode 00, and Episode 01.
  • Find Job
I need to find a job. And I don’t intend to work for Red Rooster.
  • Religiousity and Moral Hazards
This came when watching Supernatural. I was at the same time thinking about moral hazards, while Supernatural was showing a religiously themed spooky story (combined with my knowledge on Dante, etc).
  • Culture and Economic Thought
This has been in my mind for a loooong time already. Since before I came to Australia actually. I have actually put it behind my mind, but Elanor reminded me of it recently.
  • Fastest and Shortest Route to Uni
This happened when I was walking to my exam. I ended up thinking about the Dijkstra Algorithm, which made me kinda panicked, because that’s not what I’m supposed to have in mind. I should be having ideas on finance,NPV, IRR, CAPM, WACC, and etc on my mind instead, not A* algos! But since then, it has stuck with me. I’m going to write a program to find the shortest route from my house to uni.

This of course, will be along side the already saved up drafts I had

DUUUUUUUUUUUUUDEEEEEEEEEEEEEE…. a bit too much free time is it?!? Lol. Anyways interesting, sort of like a manual Pensieve eh?

“Fastest and Shortest Route to Uni”

Was a bit puzzled by that until the end of your post; i thought you meant fastest route to enroll in uni, i was like, “isnt he already IN uni?”. Lol.

    Me = lazy bugger.
I like to walk the shortest and fastest route to uni. In fact, my plan of mapping out the areas of the unis have begun. Then time to apply dijkstra algo

What’s the point? If you need to go to building on C-street side, then you walk that way; if you need to go to building on Sir-street side, you go that way.

Done. Why make it more difficult when time should’ve been spent on exams (which are slightly more important)? No point.

    Ah, Aussie pragmatism.

Well, I for one, have proven that to go to the Lakes (and anywhere within the same trajectory - Building 1, 2, 16, 27a etc), both C-street and Sir-street are inefficient. The best way would be to cross the apartments between C and Sir. Er, which means, you have to tresspass someone’s apartments

Sir-street = left side of uni.
The lakes and building 27a etc are on left side of uni.
    Therefore, use Sir-street.

Why is that so difficult? It’s not like you’d choose C-street to go to the lakes. Obvious choice, yes?

    One would think so… (@_@)

Haha, I really don’t care about the fastest route (in this case anyway). I associate walking to uni with exercise ;)

And a little exercise never hurt anyone…
