Competing Laziness

So I stumbled upon an old class photo, and I mentioned to cfgt that our high school class was filled with overachievers. It seemed everyone was doing a tough degree, with the exception of Chewxy, who’s doing economics which was an easy degree (add to the fact that I’m planning to do my honors year in microeconomics, somewhere in the game theory field, which is the easy part of economics).

Here’s the ensuing laziness competition that followed: Continue reading Competing Laziness

The Geek’s Desk

YesIt’s been a while since I last posted a desktop picture (the last time, I posted a picture of the dining table. Previous times were of my desk back in Malaysia). I realize I haven’t posted pictures of my current desk, so here it is:

King of Kernel Panic

Short rant. I was doing some work earlier. Then out of a sudden, my PC BSOD’d on me. So, fine. I can always continue my work on the Ubuntu laptop (though by then I had lost about 4 hours of work) while my Vista machine scans itself for errors.

So I booted up my Ubuntu machine, and . . . → Read More: King of Kernel Panic

I Still Type Too Fast

Last year, I wrote that I type too fast. Of course while there aren’t any actual valid reasons for saying that (since the error occurs when WLM thinks you are spamming by pressing enter too many times)

But finally, I have proof that I type way too fast. Or again, you could think this as a boastful post of mine. Any how, I was at a meeting this morning, and I was preparing a presentation. And so as we bounced ideas off each other, I was transcribing them into words. Anyone who knows my talking speed would know I usually get quite worked up and hyper(active) and do things very quickly.

And that was what happened. And then I broke my keyboard. Or rather, just the one key – the ‘]’ key. What happened was that I was typing too fast and the ‘]’ key stuck to my hand as I moved it across the keyboard. I mean, it literally stuck to my hand like there was glue on it. Of course, here are the pictures: Continue reading I Still Type Too Fast

Random Update

I recently got myself a new Ubuntu machine. I must give thanks to Tou too. Tou’s two computers were about to be junked, so I took one (the IBM one was a little trashed up to even run Ubuntu). So, I took it and installed Ubuntu on it. Here’s the result.

Tin Foil Hat

So.. Google launched their own satellite, with a GeoEye 1 camera on board. Think of all the things they can do now. As one commenter on Valleywag said, just attach a Advanced Tactical Laser, and you practically have a low powered Death Star waiting to kill anyone with pinpoint accuracy.

You see, our spies have located the plans for Google’s mind domination.

The data brought to us by the Yahooligan spies pinpoint the exact location of the Google Mind Control Towers1 (what do you think powers the Google MentalPlex). We also know that their main weapons systems are not yet operational. But most important of all, we have learnt that Larry and Sergei, and Eric and Marissa will be personally overseeing the final parts of this construction.

Many Yahooligans died to bring us information. Admiral Ackbar, please.

Ahem. Admiral Ackbar here. Take evasive actions! Green group, stick close to holding sector MV-7! IT’S A TRAP!

  1. it must be noted that one of Red Alert 2′s engineers used to be good friends with Larry and Sergei, and incorporated their ideas into RA2. Of course, after that, he was never heard of again []

The Week That Was

Let’s have a look back at the week that was, for me…

Busy!!
I had 2 exams on monday, Game Theory and Advanced Macroeconomics. GT was very doable, while I think I may have failed my Macro exam (who the hell thinks of why rich countries are rich and why poor countries are poor anyways?1).

Then Zybler and I were going thru our project, and we discussed something that could really be improved. And I’ve been coding since Tuesday night.

Sleep
Let’s see how much I slept this week:

  • Sunday – 0 hours (studying for 2 exams)
  • Monday – 8 hours (good rest after 2 exams)
  • Tuesday – 4 hours
  • Wednesday – 0 hours (Zybler talked about something really interesting, and I sat down to do it)
  • Thursday – 0 hours (still working on that bit of improvement)
  • Friday – 8 hours (crashed from not sleeping – split into 3 hours (7-10 a.m ), 1 hour (12 – 1 p.m), 4 hours sleep (4 – 8 p.m), and I spent the whole day in bed, watching movies)
  • Saturday – 3 hours

That leads up to an average of ~4 hours sleep daily. Hah. And look at my bloodshot eyes:
