Let’s have a look back at the week that was, for me…
Busy!!
I had 2 exams on monday, Game Theory and Advanced Macroeconomics. GT was very doable, while I think I may have failed my Macro exam (who the hell thinks of why rich countries are rich and why poor countries are poor anyways?1).
Then Zybler and I were going thru our project, and we discussed something that could really be improved. And I’ve been coding since Tuesday night.
Sleep
Let’s see how much I slept this week:
- Sunday - 0 hours (studying for 2 exams)
- Monday - 8 hours (good rest after 2 exams)
- Tuesday - 4 hours
- Wednesday - 0 hours (Zybler talked about something really interesting, and I sat down to do it)
- Thursday - 0 hours (still working on that bit of improvement)
- Friday - 8 hours (crashed from not sleeping - split into 3 hours (7-10 a.m ), 1 hour (12 - 1 p.m), 4 hours sleep (4 - 8 p.m), and I spent the whole day in bed, watching movies)
- Saturday - 3 hours
That leads up to an average of ~4 hours sleep daily. Hah. And look at my bloodshot eyes:
In case you go: “Hang on, Chewxy, that’s not your eye! You don’t have double eyelids!”. Which begs the question: if you know I don’t have double eyelids, then why wouldn’t you know what could cause me to have double eyelids? (like having a camera in front of my eyes)
Achievements
What did I achieve over the week? For one, I hacked up my own non-relational database (because at one point, MySQL just wouldn’t take a sqrt(nn) x sqrt(nn) table. And nC2 tables, where n is a large number (typically around 1000-3000).
No, I didn’t make a non-relational database. It’s just a bunch of scripts running together to form what seems like a nrdb. Lots of manual interaction required still. Also, MySQL had no vertical indexing, so I had to hack myself a parser that did that for my files.
Also, I apparently managed to answer a job interview over the phone when I was asleep. When I was sleeping on Friday, the phone call came, and I answered it. I woke up some 10 mins after the call and wondered what I did. So I checked my email, and yep, there was a confirmation that I had answered an interview. I am awesome.
Plus, I got myself a 100W light (its one of those energy efficient lights, so 100W is equivalent to 230W I think), and now my rooom is soooooo bright. The bulbs themselves cost way too much though.
Health
Hmm, let’s see, this week I ate out a lot (Misushi and that midnight pizza place seems to be getting a lot of my money these few days), and consumed about 4 litres of Coke and Sprite Zero (in total). Now I can hear my parental units screaming.
*waits*
Ah.. okay… now that they’re calmed down…let me draw a breath. Now, I also ate a lot of instant noodles-
*waits*
Ah.. the screaming stopped. Now, to continue…
When I was younger (think 4-5 years old), I kept reading about the dangers of cramping up in water. And somehow the illustrations always showed as if there was oil on the water. It was scary back then, thinking that if you were swimming, you will suddenly secrete oil and die.
Now.. muscle cramps (especially on the wrists) are commonplace. Nope.. still not secreting oil
Time
Coming from a uni student, which cfgt and Aaron both claim to be a class of adults with the most free time, I seem to have not a lot of time. When you factor in sleep, you just don’t have enough time to do all the things you need to do.
My room is still messy :s.
The Next Week
Well, this coming week should be pretty bland. The next week though, will be interesting. Why? September 16th.. the date that The Force Unleashed is Unleashed. Master Rahm Kota, I’m coming for you (and I hope they’ve fixed Darth Vader’s squeaky voice)2.
End Note
This is an atypical blog post. Why? I’ve decided I’m bored enough, and I want to wrest the ‘dramaqueen’ throne from Mei and Xingyi. That’s why. MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAHAAAAAAAA.
And now, if you want some random stuff that I was reading before publishing this blog post, read The Evil Pirate, by Joshua Gans’ kid.
MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAGH!3
- besides Solow, Mankiw, Romer and Weil I take that back. I still admire Hans Rosling
[↩] - and I already finished reading the book, its very very Star Wars, perhaps one of the EU series that is the most like the movies itself [↩]
- increasing font sizes and boldface text - surely a sign of madness [↩]
Cool?

I see someone wants to become a nonsleeping zombie.
Not to mention unemployed too.
no need for wrestling. there’s enough room for two.
cfgt: Fixing my sleeping time. Gosh.. its hard
dramaqueen: Nah, you’re already off the throne. dramaslave/dramasubject should be your nickname now. MUAHAHAHAHHAA
Hellooooo, I may be a drama queen but I am very good at what I do. You, on the other hand…*cough*
You have pretty lashes. I think you should cut them off so I can UHU-glue them to my lids. Make yourself useful :p
Tungsten rules
Xy: You want to glue my eyelashes to your eyes? Er…
Nigel: Flouro ftw
Xingyi.. you sure his eyelashes nice? Hahaha… so flat. he needs mascara lah.. no volume. no curl..
