Competing Laziness

So I stumbled upon an old class photo, and I mentioned to cfgt that our high school class was filled with overachievers. It seemed everyone was doing a tough degree, with the exception of Chewxy, who’s doing economics which was an easy degree (add to the fact that I’m planning to do my honors year in microeconomics, somewhere in the game theory field, which is the easy part of economics).

Here’s the ensuing laziness competition that followed:

[prior to this, I was listing my classmates and what they did with their super-achiever attitudes]
cfgt says:
actually it should also be cfgt – bum

Chewxy says:
actuary is a lot of work LOL

cfgt says:
so says who
hahaha

Chewxy says:
well.. for the guy who can do first partials in his sleep

cfgt says:
to me it’s less work than any other commerce degree
hahahaah

Chewxy says:
you want least work? come do economics

cfgt says:
dowan
economics I actually have to remember stuff
ask anyone
about my honours year
it might be the most murderous one
but it’s also the one with the least work

Chewxy says:

cfgt says:
hahahaha
cfgt and chewxy competing on who’s lazier

Chewxy says:
lol
I am so lazy I refuse to work for people when I graduate

cfgt says:
then I’ll argue I’m so lazy I get the computer to do most of my work

Chewxy says:
but we already do that!
I am so lazy I use EViews!

cfgt says:
lol
this is a stupid competition
we’re lazy
full stop
LOL
we both chose what we involve minimal work – in our individual opinions

Chewxy says:
lol. Good blogging topic, this

cfgt says:
it just so happens that the fields
don’t correspond with the general public’s consensus of lazy
hahaha

Chewxy says:
LOL

That said… economists are lazy :D . I know Aaron uses Stata, I use EViews. cfgt, the actuary, uses R (despite the fact that we quite often do use the same statistics and tests). See the difference?1

p/s: I am so lazy that I did my Game Theory homework with Gambit2 instead of calculating the SPE by hand. Beat that, cfgt!

pp/s: Have you heard of armchair economists? Aha! Even more proof of laziness!

  1. if you don’t, here’s a rough guide: In R, you have to type code and manually compile your statistical tests values, while in EViews all you do is click a button, and all the statistics gets laid out in beautiful reports for you. []
  2. then again, if I get penalized for that, I can always claim that my lecturer’s husband wrote Gambit, and by extension, she ‘allowed’ us to use Gambit (I love my own screwed up logic) []
