Knowledge of Injury

Today’s post will be short (here’s the reason behind it): I’ve got a theory – hear me out.

My theory is, if you don’t know you’re injured, you won’t feel the pain. About a month back, I stubbed my toe on my drawer, and lost a chunk of meat in the toe (I have meaty fat toes!). . . . → Read More: Knowledge of Injury

I [heart] Terry Pratchett

Regular readers know I really love Terry Pratchett’s works. I’ve often talked about the great man’s works.

Today, courtesy of Tyler, I give you another reason why you should just [heart] that fellow. I present you Nicholas Barbon. According to Wikipedia,

Nicholas Barbon (c. 1640 – 1698) (Full name: Nicholas Unless-Jesus-Christ-Had-Died-For-Thee-Thou-Hadst-Been-Damned Barbon) was an English economist, physician and . . . → Read More: I [heart] Terry Pratchett

For Star Wars Fans Who Love Economics

For Star Wars Fans Who Love Economics, i.e. me:

What good is all your uncle’s work if the Empire takes it over? You know they’ve already started to nationalize commerce in the central systems? It won’t be long before your uncle is just a tenant, slaving for the greater glory of the Empire!

Trying to Get into Honours Year

Firstly, Chewxy is being a total rip off cfgt. I even spelt ‘Honours’ the English way (as opposed to my typical American spelling). But unlike cfgt, I’ll leave you with links to satiate your hunger for the ever sexy Chewxy.

Secondly, posting is going to be very light until after my exams (November 15th). This is because unlike previous exams, I’m actually struggling very much with my advanced macroeconomics course.

Regardless, here’s a reading list (esp with regard to the current financial crisis1) which I recommend:

For those of you who are not interested in the current state of the economy and what loudmouthed economists think, here are a few other interesting links:

Efficiency, and Pressyo

On Thursday, I was being efficient. Why? I finished a group assignment and handed it in a day before it was due. That was like, 6 hours of work. Following that, I had another 5 hours of work on a project. And after dinner, it was another 4 hours of work and study.

So that’s a lot . . . → Read More: Efficiency, and Pressyo

A Blessed Man

There comes a time in a man’s life, where he realizes that he is who he is as not a personal effort, but as a combined effort of self and those people around him. All that affects him – the good, the bad, and the ugly – all but witholds him the experiences that he learns from. From life’s experiences – should he learn from it – he grows, like a phoenix, flaming out from the ashes, or like a snake, shedding its old skin, bursting into his newer self. There comes a time, when he realizes he is where he is today, thanks to everyone around him.

Markets and Crowds

So… I went to the market today – I can hear you gasping already (something along the lines of “OMG CHEWXY GOES TO THE MARKET?”). And it was crowded. That’s all about markets and crowds. So there.
