Firstly, Chewxy is being a total rip off cfgt. I even spelt ‘Honours’ the English way (as opposed to my typical American spelling). But unlike cfgt, I’ll leave you with links to satiate your hunger for the ever sexy Chewxy.
Secondly, posting is going to be very light until after my exams (November 15th). This is because unlike previous exams, I’m actually struggling very much with my advanced macroeconomics course.
Ironically, Pressyo’s economic base is mostly macroeconomics. But I didn’t have to deal with stuff like unemployment. I’d say it has a very strong micro foundation.
Regardless, here’s a reading list (esp with regard to the current financial crisis1) which I recommend:
- Fundamentalists vs. Realists by Paul Romer (yes, this is the same Romer as the Mankiw Romer and Weil model, which I so spectacularly failed)
- Anatomy of a Financial Crisis at Visualizing Economics
- How This Bear Market Compares at New York Times (for those of you doom and gloom people)
- An Economy You Can Bank On by Casey Mulligan
- Are Economists to Blame for the Crisis? - A talk by Joe Stiglitz via Michael (dammit tho, you have to install a windows media player streamer -___-)
For those of you who are not interested in the current state of the economy and what loudmouthed economists think, here are a few other interesting links:
- The AI-Box Experiment by the ever so delightful Eliezer Yudkhowsky
- Grateful For Bad News by Robin Hanson (he’s probably one of the few people who knows why Pressyo exists, and knows it better than us, the creators of Pressyo)
- Reasons to Believe (that Creationists are Crazy) by Sean Carroll
- Creepy-Cheesy 2D Graph: Where does your blog fall on? by YouNotSneaky (I had a really good laugh on this one - especially on the RBC-IS/LM indifference curve)
And to those who want to watch videos instead.. here are some - you start to wonder what they teach in Columbia Business School:
I first saw this video long ago - my dad sent me this vid. Years later, it’s still relevant
This is another funny one.
Brokeback Bankers!
Damn It Feels Good to be a Banka!
Bearish - this is not from CBS
What do these people study?
So… that’s it for now.
- yes, you read it right, I said financial crisis, not economic crisis [↩]
Cool?
