For Star Wars Fans Who Love Economics

For Star Wars Fans Who Love Economics, i.e. me:

What good is all your uncle’s work if the Empire takes it over? You know they’ve already started to nationalize commerce in the central systems? It won’t be long before your uncle is just a tenant, slaving for the greater glory of the Empire!

-Biggs Darklighter to Luke Skywalker

To those of you who know your Star Wars relatively well, you’d probably go “whaaaaaa?? Since when did Biggs say that? All I remember about Red Three was him going ‘aaaaaaarggghh’ into flames! And he missed the exhaust port!”

Ah, but if you were a true twue Star Wars fan, you’d know that the above quote is from the deleted opening of Episode 4 where Biggs and Luke had quite a lengthy conversation.

Quite apt, considering the current financial atmosphere. No? Tell me :D. And while you’re at that, do check out Pressyo.

George Lucas must have been quite a libertarian way back in ‘77

It’s Star Wars. The Galactic Empire could afford to build 2 Death Stars. Not to mention, somehow the Rebel Alliance had plenty of money to build and design their own ships - instead of stealing equipment. You’d think that says something.

(Not to mention, so many planet ruining wars and battles in such a short span of time.)

yes, its pretty impressive, how the Empire has so much money.

As for the Rebel Alliance, Galen Marek is the man (and because George Lucas so easily tossed out the Delegation of 2000)
