Today’s post will be short (here’s the reason behind it): I’ve got a theory - hear me out.
My theory is, if you don’t know you’re injured, you won’t feel the pain. About a month back, I stubbed my toe on my drawer, and lost a chunk of meat in the toe (I have meaty fat toes!). But because I was busy working on my assignments and on Pressyo, I didn’t notice it. I walked about my room, went to get coffee and came back and felt the wetness on my carpet. I looked down and saw a pool of blood. THEN it started hurting.
Case 2: yesterday, I went swimming and got myself a heavy sunburn. I didn’t know the extent of it, and went about doing my studying and working on Pressyo, and studied some more. In the evening, I went for a shower, and came out from it, and noticed my arms and my shoulders were very very bright red (because I like to stand nude in front of my full length mirror admiring my manliness). And my nose too. Then, upon knowledge of injury, it started hurting, like hell too.
And of course, there are a multitude of other things that happened, like getting papercuts but not hurting until I discover the wound, or random lacerations here and there - usually gained while I’m asleep (wow, writing this, I realize that I live with plenty of sharp things in my room and house).
Drawing from a very small sample of incidents (10 < n <29), I can say with 60% confidence at least (these numbers are thrown out randomly), that knowledge of injury brings about pain. If you don’t know you are injured, you won’t feel the pain.
Ok, back to studying random DSGE nonsense. BRB
Cool?

Haha, can I borrow your full length mirror?
I think your theory is quite right. Back in year 9, when my class played indoor cricket, I experienced something similar. I was batting at the time, and I ran into a pole at the other end, while making a run (because I kept my eye on the ball, which was to the right of the pitch). Well, I did see it at the last minute, and tried to avoid it, but my right leg pretty much smashed into the pole. I got back up and forgot about it because I was too involved in the game, haha. And then my friend pointed out “hey, your leg is bleeding” (massively), and that’s when I felt pain! I still have the scar to this day

the full length mirror is an attempt to make sarcastic jokes. Which obviously failed :p.
As for you hitting the pole… I bet it would have been funny to see it back then.
It’s called the Gate Control Thoery of Pain, my friend
wow.. its real!
Haha yeah, my physiology lecturer mentioned this in passing, but we didnt go into detail about it.

I don’t know, that can happen every once and a while with everyone, but I thing your special in the fact that it happens. You’re lucky too. No way I wouldn’t feel one of my sunburns! >.<
