Now That The Storm Has Settled…

Now, I usually do not post twice in a day, but I figured, since I have some extra time on my hands today, why not.

For the uninitiated, last sunday, the Opposition to Malaysia’s ruling party won by a huge amount, upsetting the ruling party, Barisan Nasional’s 2/3rd majority victory for the first time in fourty years. Reactions have ranged from shock by the BN party leaders, and countless of un-necessary celebration of supporters of the Opposition on the Internet.

The people were, of course, stoked. The Malaysian blogosphere lit up like the House of Parliament, London 1605 – if Guy Fawkes had not been caught – on the news that the Opposition won over 5 states, and denied BN of a 2/3rd majority win. It was power to the people, they say.

Or is it?

It actually depends on what kind of government the people of Malaysia want. To me, this supposed victory is very much like a lose-lose situation. At any outcome, the biggest losers are none other than the people of Malaysia itself. As a result of that, I am not happy.

Yes, I’m having the balls to say, whatever party you voted for, it sucked.

You want to know why? Let me put it to you in a simple manner:

What.The.Hell. (With Coffee Stained T-Shirt)

As most of my readers know, I don’t usually post twice a day. The last time I did was when I posted an article called “Are We Losing Our Freedom of Speech?“, and that was so many moons ago.

In continuing with the newspaper theme today, I was downstairs reading the newspaper while breakfasting with my mother. I had a gulp of coffee in my mouth when I caught the headline in the Star, Bloggers May Have to Register. I gave a yelp and shouted “What the hell!” And thanks to that, I have now a coffee stained T-shirt.

Okay, I had such a knee-jerk reaction because in my previous Political Nonsense article (Are We Losing Our Freedom of Speech?), I wrote this:

It’s rather tempting. The Government has been getting plenty of negative feedback nowadays, mainly on blogs. Blogs that prints out what the citizens are feeling. So what next? Registration of all bloggers and possible “dissidents”?

If that ever was a silent prayer, it did come through. Or of course, some idiot could have read this blog and picked my brains. Continue reading What.The.Hell. (With Coffee Stained T-Shirt)

It’s Not My Fault! Chinese Papers Are Liars!

Hello everyone.

I am Tungku Ad-none, Minister of Let’s-Go-on-a-Tour!. Firstly, I’d like to clarify something. I was misquoted, by bigotted and biased Chinese newspaper. Today I am here to re-iterate: Bloggers are INDEED liars. But first, let’s deal with the pesky perverted Chinese newspaper. You see, this is what usually happens: I speak my speech in glorious ol’ Bahasa Melayu, (which proves the superiority of my language), but your Chinese papers like Sin Chew Jit Poh have to translate into other pathetic languages like Chinese. I don’t care so much about your language, because it lacks the keagungan of Bahasa Melayu. What happens when I speak in Bahasa Melayu and you translate into pathetic Chinese is obviously a problem with translation. It is not my fault. I was misquoted. I said bloggers are liars.

Because that is true. Bloggers are bloody liars. And don’t you go misquote me on that! I speaka in Ingrish this time! Bloggers dislike unity (whoa.. I used a Big Word here… DISLIKE is a big word). Even as I speak now, I bet some idiot blogger will be writing political nonsense about what I speak. Because bloggers are liars. And Chinese papers too are liars.

They simply quote me. Errors in translations. You see, I think all Indians are murderers, that’s why I specifically mentioned that “Malays will kill Chinese, Chinese will kill Malays, and Indians will kill everyone else”. I am only protecting my fellow bumiputera rights! If you comment on it, ISA!

Sin Chew Jit Poh got me wrong. I am not against bloggers. I just happen to be an extremely violent sexist. You see, I think females should keep their mouths shut. I think Sin Chew Jit Poh and all other Chinese newspapers should be shut down because they spread radical untruths! You can even tell by the name! Sin Chew Jit Poh as it suggests, is full of SIN! Will you read a paper that is full of sinful things? I got proof that Sin Chew Jit Poh are lying. Why? Do you see other papers saying what I say? No right? Then why you believe sinful stuff?

Bloggers should be banned, because they are liars!

Bloggers! Pi ISA skarang!

Conversations with a Government Lackey

Right… last night, I woke up all groggy, and had a few words with the Princess, then when going back to bed, a friend messaged me on MSN. He was the typical government lackey (you know, JPA scholar, die-hard govt. policy supporter, that sort). Below is a selected portion of my conversation with him (names have been changed to protect privacy, and edited for readability):

I Blog, Therefore I Lie

I Blog, Therefore I Lie. In light of recent events, where the Prime Minister of Malaysia called bloggers liars, I’d strongly have to agree with the PM. You see, we bloggers have this compulsive need to lie. If we do not lie, we die. So, we lie therefore we blog- wait…. that wasn’t what was meant was it?

No. We blog, therefore we lie. Never mind that some of us may have sources to back up our claims. Never mind that some of us have physical evidence, to back up our claims. Never mind that some of us have spent hours on research and deep delving of data to come up with articles. No, for as long as we blog, we are liars.

Unthinking respect for the authority is the greatest enemy of Truth“, says Albert Einstein (but I’m probably a liar, since I blog, so better not quote me or Einstein on this). And because bloggers are liars, we are the greatest enemies of the Truth. And since we are the greatest enemies of Truth, it also implies we have unthinking respect for the authority.

As we have the greatest unthinking respect for the authority, I move that we bloggers take up the call of the Prime Minister. Put a tag in your blog, and admit that you are lying, because you blog.

Here are 2 tags that I made, that you might want to put in your own blog (please save image and upload it elsewhere. I didn’t pay for a lot of bandwidth)

  • I Blog, Therefore I Lie
This is the simple tag. The code to the simple tag is:

    <a target="_blank" href="http://blog.chewxy.com/2007/02/01/i-blog-therefore-i-lie/"><img border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/Chewxy/iblogthereforilie.gif" /></a>
  • I Blog, Therefore I Lie
This one features Rene Descartes on the tag. The code is:

    <a target="_blank" href="http://blog.chewxy.com/2007/02/01/i-blog-therefore-i-lie/"><img border="0" alt="Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting" src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v494/Chewxy/iblogthereforilie2.gif" /></a>

Are We Losing Our Freedom of Speech?

I don’t usually blog twice a day. But today, I make an exception. I got my newspapers this morning and I read this : Filtering Out Online Smut (by the Star Online). I will be reproducing the same article below as an insert, in case something happens to the link. Not many local bloggers are covering this yet, and I think I am the first.

I have nothing against filtering smut. I am, however, more concered about the freedom of speech. The most worrisome statement is actually this:

The MCSC has the capability to track down those producing or downloading pornography (Dr. Jamaluddin Jarjis)

It is not so much the fact that the MCSC has the capability of tracking those producing or downloading pornography, but rather, the fact that concerns me is that MCSC has the capability of tracking. Why should we, the free citizens be tracked down like dogs by the Government?

With the ability to track down people, what makes the people so sure that the Government isn’t just tracking the downloading of porn? What if the Government is tracking people whom it thinks and labels as dissidents? (Ktemoc, Jeff Ooi, Lim Kit Siang, Raja Petra Kamaruddin comes to mind). Sure, some people like Jeff Ooi and Lim Kit Siang are public figures, and they are not so easy to take down. But what of people like Ktemoc? I have certainly enjoyed KTemoc’s analysis of situations (I think he’s better than Jeff), and most certainly, he hasn’t been very kind on the Government these days.

O.B.E.S.E Warning to Muslims

In view of the recent surge of blog-posts about religious extremism (read: Lucia Lai, Jeff Ooi), the newly created Other Beliefs Extra Sensitive Establishment (O.B.E.S.E) will now create a warning to all Muslims around the world.

Seeing that even a cross on an Ice-Cream is viewed as a a form of proselythizing, we at O.B.E.S.E believe that . . . → Read More: O.B.E.S.E Warning to Muslims
